in the Logar Desert 1988- Everywhere one went in the desert there
were little patches of flags and piles of stones where Afghans
had died. Often, the rotting corpses of blasted pack animals
sprawled nearby. Sometimes you could find a location by the smell.
Often, it was an occasion for prayer. |
